meteor: 1770

Edward Long, in his History of Jamaica, published in 1774, wrote briefly about meteors in general, and in more detail about a remarkable meteor observed in many parts of Jamaica on January 22, 1770. He provided a diagram to amplify his description of the meteor. I hope that the description and the diagram make more sense to others, probably more knowledgeable, than they do to me! He seems more concerned with his analysis of lightning, into which he slipped the account of meteors.
